Mail Services FAQs

Does NMSU use interoffice department mail?

Yes, to send and receive mail in different departments, you will need to know its Mail Stop Code (MSC). This includes using Mail Stop Codes on packages from shipping vendors.

What is a Mail Stop Code (MSC)?

Mail Stop Codes are used by mail services to designate a delivery location (building/room). The code simplifies the handling process, enabling mail service staff to sort mail more efficiently and ensure faster delivery.

Where do I find the Mail Stop Code?

You can find Mail Stop Code (MSC) by using the NMSU Phonebook – each person will have their designed MSC with their name.

Can only department names be used?

No. Department names do not provide sufficient enough information for delivery. Failure to follow proper mail addressing procedures may result in service delays or failures.
